Anxiety
The vast majority of us know what it’s like to feel worried and stressed: the tightness in the chest, a sinking feeling in your stomach, a sense of being out of control, preoccupied, unable to concentrate properly. For most of us this will be an occasional and normal reaction to the events life throws at us such as waiting for the result of a test, financial hiccups, someone not back at home on time at night. However, when you are experiencing the symptoms of anxiety every day and you can’t remember the last time you felt calm, comfortable and relaxed then it could well be affecting your quality of life.
The symptoms are wide-ranging, from dizziness, lethargy, irritability and sweating to diarrhoea, stomach aches, headaches and shortness of breath. Our behaviour changes: maybe we have an extra glass of wine,
an extra cigarette or two, more days off sick or an irrational flash of temper that makes our colleagues and loved ones tiptoe around us.
Feeling stressed and anxious all the time can affect our health, our relationships and our jobs in ways we may not acknowledge until it’s too late.
Long-term stress can be overwhelming, or even emotionally crippling., but you don’t have to live with it. - In two or three sessions, I can help you become the calm and confident person you want to be. I can help you to be calm, assertive, confident and able to deal with daily life as easily as everyone else seems to?
Panic Attacks
Panic attacks are comon, they can exist on their own or may e part of another condition. A panic attack can happen without warning and can occur for little or no apparant reason. A traumatic event or stressful experience may contribute to a panic attack. Feelings of panic and anxiety may occur soon after the event, or may occur years later when they are not expected. They are brought on by the "fight or flight" response which triggers hormones, particularly adrenaline to flood into our body in preparation to defend itself from a percieved threat.
Symptoms of a panic attack can be so severe that those suffering often believe they are having a heart attack or suffering from another life threatening illness. Common symptoms include: chest pains, nausea, breathlessness, pounding hear rate, fear of dying, sweating, dizziness, trembling or shaking, choking sensations, numbness, headache, exhaustion, terror.
With Hypnotherapy I can help to alleviate anxiety and panic attacks by direct suggestion and behavioural training. I can help to desensitise the sufferer from certain stresses and help them take back control by recognising and regulating previously inappropriate responses. I also teach new ways to relax and remove anxiety triggers.
