5 Healthy Snacks to curb Food Cravings

It's 3.30pm, lunch time has been and gone and it's hours until dinner. Your stomach is rumbling and your head is spinning with the stress of work. To add to it all,you have found yourself in front of the vending machine. The choices on offer include chocolate and crisps. One part of your mind is saying "Don't do it, think of the diet" but another part is willing you on saying "I need chocolate it will solve all my problems".
It doesn't have to be like this, some careful planning ahead could mean you have healthy snacks on hand that could save the day. Here are 5 healthy snacks you can prepare in advance. So when the munchies hit, you can satisfied and feel good about yourself.
1. Roasted Chickpeas
A delicious snack that is very simple to make. Place a can of chickpeas on a roasting tin with a bit of oil, you could limit the oil by spraying it on. Sprinkle with your preffered spices, I like a bit of chilli to give them a bit of a kick! Then bake at 400 degees celcius until golden and crunchy.
2. Salad in a jar
Take a jar and layer your chosen salad ingedients with a dressing at the bottom and greens at the top. Include a good mixture of veggies, nuts, seeds, grains for a nutritious snack. Kept in the fridge it will stay fresh until you dump it out into a bowl.
3. Hummus and carrot sticks
Simply hummus and carrot cut into sticks. Or you could use other veg such as magetout or sugar snap peas. If you are feeling more adventurous you could try making your own hummus at home.
4. Fresh Fruit
The original and natural convienience foods. So much choice! What's not to like.
5. Kale Chips
Thee are delicious. Shred the kale or buy a bag of ready shredded. Put this on a roasting tin and add your favourite seasonings and bake until crispy. You could toss the kale with cider vinegar and sea salt for a healthy version of salt & vinegar crisps.
Prepared in advance, you could make all of thee in just 20 minutes one evening and hey presto, you have healthy snacks for a week.
Each of these snacks should help curb your cravings without giving you a massive sugar rush and sending your energy levels into a spin.
